Research interests:
Affect and decision making, especially the role of affect regulation in the context of making decisions that carry varying levels of risk; thought suppression, especially with respect to cognitive vs. motivational explanations for the rebound following thought suppression; intimate relationships, especially the motivational underpinnings of "unwanted" relationships.
Books and such:
I'm currently working on the second edition of Intimate Relationships (with M.W. Erber) to be available late 2009 and a social psychology text with Len Newman to be published by Wiley in 2010. And of course, our edited volume "Understanding Genocide" is still available from Oxford University Press. I'm also co-editor of Psychological Inquiry (with Lenny Martin), an international journal for the advancement of theory in psychology, published by Psychology Press. If you have some wild ideas that might advance our field, please send them my way.
